Religion in Postindustrial America: The Problem of Secularization Talcott Parsons Talcott Parsons is
Professor of Sociology at Harvard University. His books include The
Structure of Social Action (1949), The Social System (1951), and The
System of Modern Societies (1971). He is currently at work on The
American Societal Community.
Andrew M. Greeley is
Director of the Center for the Study of American Pluralism at the
National Opinion Research Center, University of Chicago. He is the
author of the Denominational Society (1972) and the New Agenda (1973).
His Ethnicity in the United States will be published this fall. Religious Behavior: Its Social Dimension in American History Martin E. Marty Martin E. Marty is
Professor of the History of Modern Christianity, University of Chicago.
The author of Righteous Empire (1970) and many other books, he is
currently working on A Nation of Behavers: Collective Religious
Behavior in 20th-Century America. From Karl Barth to Theology Gabriel Vahanian Gabriel Vahanian is Jeannette K. Watson Professor of Religion and
Director of Graduate Studies at Syracuse University. He is the author
of The Death of God (1961), Wait Without Idols (1964), and No Other God
(1966). Terrorism as Strategy and Ecstasy William F. May William F. May,
Professor and Chairman of the Department of Religious Studies, Indiana
University, wrote A Catalogue of Sins: A Contemporary Examination of
Christian Conscience (1967).
Ideology, Authority, and the Development of Cultic Movements Roy Wallis Roy Wallis, Lecturer in
the Department of Sociology, University of Stirling, is working on a
sociological analysis of Scientology. The Prophet and the Marrano: Two Ways of Religious Being in the Soviet Union Richard Lourie Richard Lourie is a
Fellow of the Society for the Humanities, Cornell University. His
Letters to the Future: A Study of Sinyavsky/Tertz will be published
this fall. The Scope of "The Religious Factor" and the Sociology of Religion: Notes on Definition, Idolatry and Magic Louis Schneider Louis Schneider is
Professor of Sociology, University of Texas at Austin. Among other
books, he wrote Sociological Approach to Religion (1970) and co-edited
The Idea of Culture in the Social Sciences (1973). Contemporary Psychology of Religion: The Task of Theoretical Reconstruction Donald Capps Donald Capps is
Assistant Professor in the Divinity School, University of Chicago. He
is working on a book titled Psychology of Religion: Basic Foundations.
