The New School is a legendary, progressive university comprising eight schools bound by a common, unusual intent: to prepare and inspire its 9,400 undergraduate and graduate students to bring actual, positive change to the world. From its Greenwich Village campus, The New School launches economists and actors, fashion designers and urban planners, dancers and anthropologists, orchestra conductors, filmmakers, political scientists, organizational experts, jazz musicians, scholars, psychologists, historians, journalists, and above all, world citizens-individuals whose ideas and innovations forge new paths of progress in the arts, design, humanities, public policy, and the social sciences. In addition to its 70 graduate and undergraduate degree-granting programs, the university offers certificate programs and more than 1,000 continuing education courses to 13,000 adult learners every year.

The New School for Social Research provides an education grounded in history and informed by a legacy of critical thought and civic engagement. The school’s dedication to academic freedom and intellectual inquiry reaches back to the university’s founding in 1919 as a home for progressive thinkers and the creation of the University in Exile in 1933 for scholars persecuted in Nazi Europe. The interdisciplinary education offered by The New School for Social Research today explores and promotes global peace and justice as more than theoretical ideals. The New School for Social Research is a second home for students from a variety of geographical, cultural, economic, and political backgrounds. It enrolls more than 1,000 students from all regions of the United States and from more than 70 countries. Here, civic engagement begins in the classroom. Seminar-style classes facilitate mutual respect and intellectual rigor and take advantage of the school’s diversity and location in New York City.

International Journal of Social Research Methodology is published by Routledge. A key feature of this journal is the mix of academic and theoretically-slanted methodological articles, articles relating to research practice in professional and service settings, and those considering the relationship between the two. It thus addresses an audience of researchers within academic and other research organizations as well as practitioner-researchers in the field.

The Canadian Journal of Sociology/Cahiers canadiens de sociologie (CJS) is Canada’s premiere generalist sociology journal. Founded in 1975, it publishes rigorously peer-reviewed research articles and innovative theoretical essays by social scientists from around the world, providing insight into the issues facing Canadian society as well as social and cultural systems in other countries. We publish research by some of the most prominent sociologists in Canada and abroad. The journal is indexed by all of the major sociological indexing services and also features a lively debate/commentary section encouraging the intensive exchange of ideas. We also publish widely read and debated "Notes on Society" and "Notes on the Discipline" sections which are designed to address topical issues of the day from a social science point of view and discuss a variety of issues encountered in the course of the sociological analysis of modern society. The Canadian Journal of Sociology has recently transitioned to an entirely electronic open-access format, thereby ensuring that works published in the journal secure the widest global readership possible.

Higher Education for Development (HED) engages the higher education community in the U.S. and abroad for social and economic development through human and institutional capacity building. Since 1997, HED has managed more than 300 higher education partnerships in 60 countries with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). HED draws on faculty expertise to address global development challenges and is founded by the six major U.S. higher education associations: the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), Amercian Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), Association of American Universities (AAU), American Council on Education (ACE), National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), and National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC). The Journal of Research Practice (JRP) seeks to develop our understanding of research as a type of practice, so as to extend and enhance that practice in the future. The Journal aims to highlight the dynamics of research practice, as it unfolds in the life of a researcher, in the growth and decline of a field, and in relation to a changing social and institutional environment. The Journal welcomes deliberation on the basic issues and challenges encountered by researchers in any specific domain. The Journal aims to explore why and how different activities, criteria, methods, and languages become part of research practice in any domain. This is expected to trigger interdisciplinary dialogue, mutual learning, facilitate research education, and promote innovations in different fields.
